The book attempts to strengthen policy research focussing on the implementation of the Right to Education Act (RTE) in Haryana. The Act was passed by the Indian government, recognising the importance of education and making it a 'fundamental right' for every child. This made education free and compulsory for all children between the age of 6 and 14 years. The RTE Act, 2009, has completed more than seven years of its journey since its enactment on 1st April, 2010. The present book in its own humble way evaluates the implementation of the Act and attempts to contribute towards policy making and applied research by bridging the significant void between the commitments laid out in the RTE Act and its achievements.
