The book attempts to examine objectively the growth performance and achievement of inclusive development in India during 2004-14. The factors and processes that led to achievement of high growth rate have been analysed and examined especially when the global economy entered a period of prolonged recession. A conscious effort was made by the government during the period under study to make economic development more equitable and inclusive in nature. The book endeavours to examine the factors which circumscribed the development process to keep the benefits with a small proportion of the population. The analysis here is guided by economic theory as well as mediation of public policy. The emphasis has been to examine India's successful growth story with a view to put the country on the sustained path of high and inclusive development. The book also identifies some important issues which merit attention of policy makers for keeping economy on the path of fast and inclusive development on sustainable basis.
